The ESPN Scripps national Spelling Bee is a perfect metaphor for the sad state of Education here in the United States.

Much like the participants are just tools their parents use to pad their egos, so too are students at our public schools. Education is no longer about making intelligent p people who contribute to society; its about money and ego. Nothing more.

Let’s get rid of meaningless Calculus classes and stop airing spelling bees. That’s only a start to making education here in the U.S. worthy of respect again!
